Lilina Lysenko
Barrister, Solicitor & Notary Public

Lilina grew up in Fernie, B.C., and currently lives in the Rossland / Trail area with her husband and two children. Lilina attended the University of British Columbia for both her undergraduate and law degrees, and graduated from UBC Law in 2006. After completing her articles in Trail, B.C., she was called to the Bar in British Columbia in 2007. Lilina worked with local law firms until starting her own practice, Lysenko Law, in 2012. During her articles, and since she was called, Lilina has focused on Real Estate, Small Business, Estate Planning and Environmental Law. Lilina provides advice to clients around the province both in-person, and remotely.

Kaleigh Henry
Barrister, Solicitor & Notary Public

Kaleigh grew up in the Lower Mainland, and provides legal services on a remote, part-time basis. She is based in Vancouver, although she loves visiting the Kootenays for work and play. Kaleigh was called to the bar in 2018 and has provided exceptional legal services to her clients in the areas of family law, wills and estates, estate litigation, personal injury, and insurance defence. Kaleigh has represented clients at the Supreme and Provincial courts of British Columbia. Kaleigh is an avid soccer player and all-around athlete who enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog, Atim.

 

 

 

Emily MacKinnon
Barrister, Solicitor & Notary Public

Emily hails from a long-time Kootenay family, and grew up between Castlegar and Nelson. A graduate from Stanley Humphries Secondary School, she obtained her bachelors degree in Political Science and Communications from the University of Ottawa before completing her law degree at the University of Victoria. After completing her articles with Lysenko Law, Emily was called to the bar in 2021. Emily focuses primarily on family law, estate planning and litigation, and civil litigation, but also takes on real estate, human rights, and residential tenancy matters. In her downtime, Emily can be found hitting the slopes, camping near one of BC’s many beautiful lakes, or baking treats for her wife and their extremely spoiled dog, Spoon.
Emily is pleased to offer services in English and French, and speaks conversational Italian. Emily provides advice to clients around the province both in-person, and remotely.

 

Gabriel E. Lando White
Articled Student

Gabriel was born and raised in Vancouver, B.C., and is currently completing his articles in Rossland, B.C. After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia, he received a government scholarship to attend the Shanghai Conservatory of Music where he studied jazz guitar and travelled throughout China for 11 months. Upon his return from Shanghai, Gabriel moved to Montreal, QC, where his work as a legal assistant for an immigration lawyer inspired him to apply to law school. In June of 2022, Gabriel graduated from the Thompson Rivers University Faculty of Law. When outside of the office, Gabriel can be found playing either soccer or basketball, skiing, or playing music with friends.

Gabriel is pleased to offer services in English, French, and Mandarin and provides advice to clients both in-person, and remotely.

 

Elaine Seto
Office Manager / Legal Assistant

Elaine joined Lysenko Law in 2017 and quickly became indispensable. She comes from Alberta with 20 years experience in the administrative field, and is involved in the day to day operations of client files. Elaine is an avid golfer, essential oil enthusiast, and fitness guru.

 

 

 

 

 

Emily Haws
Administrative Assistant / Reception 

Emily joined Lysenko Law in 2022 and quickly became an important part of the team. Emily moved to Rossland from her hometown of Orangeville, Ontario in 2019. Emily is a woman of many hats. She graduated from Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario with honors for Visual and Creative Arts, as well as Animal Behavioral College for Veterinary Assistant. She has travelled across Canada multiple times reaching Northwest Territories, Yukon and adventuring into Alaska. When outside of the office, Emily enjoys painting, hiking, and camping with friends

 

 

Kyrri Stewart
Legal Assistant

Kyrri joined Lysenko Law after graduating from the Legal Administrative Assistant program at Capilano University in the top of her class in the Spring of 2021. She is currently completing her undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Practice, through Royal Roads University. Kyrri has lived in the Rossland/Trail area all her life and outside of the office she enjoys taking her dog on hikes and reading.

 

 

 

 

Kelly Mclean   

Conveyancer 

Originally from Vancouver Island, Kelly has called Rossland BC home since 2009. With a background in healthcare and communications Kelly has now settled into her role as a real estate conveyancer with Lysenko Law. Kelly is a dedicated mother of four, when not in the office she can be found enjoying the mountain lifestyle with her friends and family.

 

 

Michele Kienas
Conveyancer

Michele has spent 30+ years in the legal field.  She understands the importance of client communication, attention to detail and professionalism in a busy legal environment.  Clients enjoy Michele’s dry wit and sense of humour.  When she is not serving our clients Michele enjoys combining science and art to make unique jewelry.

Office Dogs

Sassafras (Sassa / Sassy)

Sassafras is a border collie x mini Australian shepherd who joined our family as a puppy in June 2019 and belongs to the owner of the firm Lilina. She spends her days at the the office providing clients and staff with stress- relief and cuteness.

Spoon

Spoon is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who delights in sitting on clients’ laps, and providing insight on documents from the comfort of her very own office chair. When she’s not at the office, Spoon enjoys napping with her human, Emily.

 

 

 

 

Atim

 

Atim is a mixed breed, sweetheart of a dog who normally works in Vancouver with Kaleigh, although he does thrill the Rossland office with a visit on occasion.

Luna is a blue heeler and keeps her owner Kelly busy.

Commissioner of Oath

Donna joined the Kimberley office in January 2022 and is originally from Saskatchewan but has lived in Kimberley for 23 years. She lives with her husband and 3 kids, a dog and 2 cats. She has become one of the “Commissioner of Oaths” for the Kimberley office and comes with over 26 years of experience in the administrative field and when not at the office, her family keeps her busy and she loves spending time outdoors.

Commissioner of Oath

Victoria is located in our Kimberley office with over a decade of experience in the legal industry, specializing in real estate. Victoria attended Capilano University and graduated with honors in her paralegal certification.  She also attended the University of Northern BC and the University of Calgary and graduated with bachelor degrees from both.  Originally from the beautiful town of Powell River on the Sunshine Coast, Victoria fell in love with the East Kootenays and is thankful to call Kimberley home.  She is passionate about being active in the community and volunteer opportunities.

 

Kimberley Office Dogs

Rebel is a German Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix and sticks close to her owner, Donna and she is learning to become an office dog. Rebel loves the snow and catching the ball.

 

 

 

 

Avocado is Victoria’s and is a rescue dog that resides in our Kimberley Office.  He enjoys greeting clients for all the chin scratches he can get.
